Is Your Drinking Okay? is currently being redeveloped. This is a quiz that helps you to learn more about your level of risk from drinking.

If you want to take a similar quiz, you can use the Alcohol Risk Communication Tool.

If you want to calculate your risk level now, you can take these steps:

  1. Learn about the low-risk guidelines in Aotearoa
  2. Know the alcohol content of what you are drinking, and record them.
  3. Compare your results against the following.

Based on the current guidelines, if you are a man:

  • You’re classed as low risk if you are having between 0 and 15 standard drinks a week. This means that your drinking comes with some health and other risks but this is less likely.
  • Your drinking is considered harmful if you have over 15 standard drinks a week. This means that there is potential for significant harm over time. The more you drink over 15 standard drinks, the greater the harm and the more likely that this will cause problems.

Based on the current guidelines, if you are a woman:

  • You’re classed as low risk if you are having between 0 and 10 standard drinks a week. This means that your drinking comes with some health and other risks but this is less likely.
  • Your drinking is considered harmful if you have over 10 standard drinks a week. This means that there is potential for significant harm over time. The more you drink over 10 standard drinks, the greater the harm and the more likely that this will cause problems.
